Hearthstone Tournament!

The tournament is open to all STG and STGAA members! You are an STGAA member if you have ever been a part of STG.

This tournament will take place over the course of several weeks. Every few days you will be assigned a randomly chosen opponent. You will not face the same opponent twice.. You will have a certain amount of days to play that opponent best of three matches. You will report the results of your matches to us including how many games were won (i.e. 2-0, 2-1). Both players should report the matches to ensure accuracy.

You have until June 2nd at 8 pm to sign up for the tournament. The first round matches will be announced that evening, as well as the schedule of the tournament. The schedule will dependent on the amount of participation.

At the end of each set of matches we will tally wins and losses and post the updated rankings. The winner of the tournament will be the person with the most overall wins. Ties will broken by most individual match wins. If there is still a tie for first, second, or third we will have sudden death tie breaker matches.

Each deck played is limited to one legendary card. You may choose any deck for each match of your best of three, but any deck played may only have one legendary card in it.

All players must sign-up with their Blizzard Battletag on our Facebook page. Learn more about your Battletag here: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/battlenet-battletag

A battletag is your public Blizzard handle that does not give away your real life information.

Prizes will be given out at the STGAA Summer Minicon, or sent out after to those who are unable to attend.

Post Arcon

We want to thank everyone that paid their yearly dues at Arcon XIII this year! With your help we can continue to provide scholarships to current STG students. If you missed paying your dues and would still like to do so then just get in contact with any board of director and we can get you information on where to mail it. If you can’t afford to pay your dues then that is okay too! We can use your help in other ways still. We always can use volunteers to help us with events and committees. We have lots of ideas but they are hard to implement when we don’t have the help.

Also, do not forget that this is an election year. If you want to run for a board position or if you just want to be able to vote then you’ll need to have paid in at the lowest tier to do so ($10).

Keep your ears open, we have plans for a summer event and an alumni mini-con as well!

What: Participants will create non-electronic games that can be played in under 3 hours and can be taught to players in under 10 minutes. The goal being to create a new game that can be played at a convention.

All supplies and special equipment needed for the game to operate must be provided by the contest entrant. Readily available gaming supplies such as dice, standard playing cards, and so forth do not necessarily need to be provided, but are strongly recommended.

Where: The games created for the contest will be debuted at Summer Minicon where a winner will be chosen.

When: The contest starts now and ends at Summer Minicon, which will be sometime in the beginning of August.

Why: The winner will be a featured event at Arcon XIII!

Thank you to all our members!

We want to thank everyone that attended Arcon XII this year and stopped by our table. A huge thank you to everyone that was able to pay their dues for the 2014 year. As a reminder, paying your 2014 dues gives you voting member status for the rest of this year and 2014.

If you are still wanting to pay your dues you can do so at any time. You can always mail a check to:
PO Box 153
Oswego, NY 13126
Checks can be made out to Story Tellers’ Guild Alumni Association.

We also got a few ideas and we’ve learned a few things from Arcon thisĀ  year as well. We hope to update the website, add in the map that you pinned your name to as an interactive Google map, get a mentorship program off the ground, and maybe have a summer contest! If you want to help us in any of these areas then feel free to send any one of the board of directors a message.

Also, if you missed our newsletter, there is a link at the top of the page to it so you can download it as well as all the previous newsletters.

Welcome to a new year!

We wanted to thank everyone for their continued support as we continue to push forward this new year. With everyone’s help we have been able to hand out three scholarships for the past 2 years to deserving students. We hope to continue to provide scholarships as well as continue our effort to help members of the organization and STG.

We are always open to new ideas, so feel free to share them with us. If you are also interested in donating your time then Committees are a great way to do that. Committees help organize the Scholarship, events such as our fall minicon, and help to promote the organization as a whole with our newsletter. If you are interested in helping out then feel free to contact any member of the board of directors.

Thanks again and we hope everyone has a great 2013!
